Richard Sniff began his engineering career when he entered the Architectural Engineering program at the University of Texas at Austin in 2005, but his inspiration goes back even farther than that. When he was a child, he spent his time near the tool closet, disassembling and reassembling power tools and anything with wheels. He will always be appreciative to his parents for allowing him the opportunity to take things apart as a kid, even though he may have lost a few things along the way. As he grew a little older, he developed a serious interest in buildings and spent his summers finding ways to get involved in small construction projects.
Since then, he’s had the great opportunity to work on a wide variety of challenging projects under two talented mentors – David Mitchell and Sujay Regmi. His work spans both private and public sectors and includes commercial, medical, high-rise, residential, municipal, critical infrastructure, and transportation projects. He has sat for engineering licensure examinations in both mechanical and electrical engineering, and he is endorsed by state engineering boards in multiple disciplines through multiple states.
After a long tenure with Aptus Engineering, Richard and his family decided to establish a new type of engineering practice called Power Forward that seeks to better integrate renewable energy generation into the development and re-development of our buildings and infrastructure. The love and support from his family fuel his drive to create a better world for generations to come.
